UNC, KIM Say No To UG Rehab In Chandel

IMPHAL, Nov 25: Joining the chorus against the Manipur Government decision of ‘sheltering’ of the proscribed KCP of Lallumba group cadres in Chandel district, the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM) said today that they disapproved the State Government decision.

KIM and UNC, the apex social organizations of both the Kukis and the Nagas in Manipur respectively, informed NNN that they would extend their solidarity and support to the move of those tribal people of Chandel district to oppose the stationing of ‘KCP surrenderees’ at Leikun village. UNC and KIM term the State Government decision as ‘anti-hill people’.

‘We will stand behind the people who are fighting for their rights to live in peace in Chandel district,’ pledged the UNC and KIM.

Meanwhile, normal activities have been disrupted along the Imphal-Moreh section of NH-39 following the 24-hour bandh called by Naga Students’ Union, Chandel (NSUC) and Kuki Students’ Organization, Chandel district which started since 6 am of November 25 against the State Government decision on the KCP issue. No transporters carried out their normal chores today. However, there was no report of any untoward incident till the filing of this story. The bandh will end at 6 am of November 26.
