IMPHAL, May 22: Gearing up for the coming State Assembly Election which is likely to be held in the early part of next year, a joint meeting of the Vaiphei Peoples Council GHq, VPC Sangaikot Block, VPC Singat Block, VPC Tonglon Block, Zillai GHq and other close associates of the intending candidate Zabiaksang Suantak for Singhat A/C who had contested the 2007 election with BJP ticket in Thanlon A/C, was held today at the conference hall of Khuga Sadar Presbytery Tuibuang Churachandpur.

A release issued by the meeting convener and secretary organizing/Zillai GHq L Vaiphei said, “The Vaiphei Peoples Council has been supporting the present outer MP Thangso Baite for three consecutive terms till the last assembly election held in 2007.”

“This time it is most likely that the Vaiphei bodies would support the lone candidate from the Vaiphei community in 60/Singhat A/C Zabiaksang Suantak,” the release added.

Zabiaksang informed the meeting that ever since Thangso Baite was elected as MLA from Singhat A/C many developmental works including improvement of road connectivity in both Singhat and Sangaikot, opening of BDO Hq in Sangaikot area and 33/11 KV substation in Singhat, and construction of police station at Sangaikot, have been taken up in the most sincere manner, it conveyed. To continue the noble works of MP Thangso, Zabiaksang has volunteered and come forward to contest the coming election in 60/Singhat A/C in Churachandpur district, it informed.
