Ranjit Inaugurates Community Hall At Kakching Khunou

IMPHAL, Apr 28: Works Minister K Ranjit inaugurated a new community hall at Kakching Khunou yesterday which was constructed at the cost of Rs 50 lakhs.

Of this amount, Rs 15 lakhs was contributed from the MP Local Area Development Fund of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency while the remaining 35 lakhs was funded from the MLA Local Area Development Fund.

Speaking as a guest of honor at the inaugural function, Social Welfare Minister N Loken asserted that Irom Chanu Sharmila once stated that she would call off her campaign if AFSPA is repealed from some parts of Manipur.

Even as the SPF Government has repealed the Act from some areas of Imphal, Sharmila has been continuing her fast.

In the face of the continuous incidents of bomb and firing attacks, how could AFSPA be repealed? When there is peace, the Act would go away on its own, Loken said.

Saying that the people of Sugnu and Kakching Khunou were witness to what Minister K Ranjit was doing for the people, Loken claimed that the SPF Government has succeeded in implementing various projects.

In his speech, Speaker I Hemochandra said that K Ranjit has been taking prominent roles in promoting cordial relationship between the hills and valley.

Works Minister K Ranjit said that the newly constructed community hall would be immense benefit to the people.

“Though I grew up in abject poverty, I joined electoral with a firm determination and sincere intention to serve the people”, Ranjit said.

Later, Ranjit inaugurated a newly constructed bridge at Kakching Khunou Ningthou Leikai in addition to opening a new office of the Sugnu Block Congress Committee Mahila Morcha.
