IMPHAL, Jun 6: A team of Central Government officials comprising of the Secretary, Ministry of DoNER Jayanti Chandra and Director, Ministry of Finance Vandita Kaul arrived at Imphal and have started inspecting NLCPR projects and other major projects taken up under SPA.
After landing at Imphal at about 12.30 pm today, the Central team together with State officials of relevant departments inspected Lamlong Bridge, Keishamthong Bridge and National Sports Academy which were all taken up under NLCPR.
As DoNER Secretary Jayanti Chandra had an appointment with the Governor in the afternoon, Vandita Kaul alone inspected the infrastructure development work of JNIMS being taken up with SPA fund.
Vandita Kaul made a direct assessment of the JNIMS OPD Block which was inaugurated recently and other civil works now under progress.
The Central team will hold a review meeting with the Chief Secretary about the projects being taken up by different departments under NLCPR at the conference hall of Old Secretariat tomorrow.
This will be followed by an inspection tour to the Capitol Project at Chingmeirong.
On their arrival, the DoNER team met officials of the State Transport Department and discussed the growing traffic volume and the accompanying problems such as traffic snarls and the non-availability of parking space in the heart of the capital city.
Introduction of the newly acquired low floor public transport buses was also discussed during the meeting.
The Prime Minister had reportedly asked the Chief Minister to expedite the works of the pending projects and complete them in good time. A number of projects taken up under funding from Delhi are currently awaiting completion.
The Capitol project is among the pending works and its foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in 2004.
