MPP Ready To Form Non-Congress Alliance

IMPHAL, Nov 26 : The MPP is leaving no stone un- turned to send out a clear message for the forth- coming Konthoujam by-elections nada has announced its intention to work together with like-minded political parties excepting Congress and their alliance so as to up-stage the Congress party from the political arena of Manipur.

This was stated by MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang after a meeting of the party’s central committee today.

The meeting elected former general secretary Y Mangi as the party’s vice-president.

It also unanimously nominated former president Dr L Chandramani as member of both MPP working committee and election committee.

Dr Nimaichand said that the ruling Congress party has touched rock bottom in the popularity chart.

In line with the changing aspirations and desires of the people, the central committee has agreed on working together with all like-minded parties excepting Congress and their alliances with a view to overthrow the Congress party.

Informing that MPP has started sending feelers to like-minded parties, Nimaichand Luwang claimed that there has been positive response to the dialogue process as well the invitation for dialogue.

The MPP is also in touch with the BJP and CPI separately even though BJP and CPI have no common ground ideologically.

Further, the MPP is working hard to put across its intention of forming a non-Congress alliance of like-minded parties in the forthcoming by-election to Konthoujam Assembly Constituency.

As the proposed alliance is aimed for the next Assembly elections, MPP may not put up its own candidate in the Konthoujam by-election.

Rejoicing at the recovery of former MPP president Dr Chandramani who was critically ill sometime back, Dr Nimaichand Luwang said that Dr Chandramani is fully fit and he would contest in the next Assembly elections from Patsoi constituency.

He also appealed to the people of Patsoi to support Dr Chandramani.

Hailing the landslide victory of NDA over Congress in the recently held Bihar Assembly elections, the MPP president said that his party would send a congratulatory message to Nitish Kumar.
