Most Schools Ready To Implement RTE

IMPHAL, Apr 3: Although most schools have expressed their willingness to implement the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education, four schools namely Nirmalabas School, St Joseph’s School, Little Flower School and Catholic School have categorically stated they would not implement the same Act, conveyed the All Manipur Student Guardians’ Organization (AMSGO).

Taking serious view of these schools challenging the Act, AMSGO has decided to file a PIL.

Speaking to media persons today, AMSGO advisor N Tomba demanded that the State Government should work to effectively implement the Act and penalise non-complying schools.

Denouncing the open declaration by Nirmalabas School, St Joseph School, Little Flower School and Catholic School not to implement the RTE Act, Tomba further demanded to know whether or not the Headmasters/Headmistresses and teaching staff of these schools meet the qualifications specified by the RTE Act.

AMSGO secretary Yaima proposed for establishment of a text book cooperation to address the problem of text book unavailability.

He further informed that a meeting of guardians of the students who have been failed in their annual exams despite attending class regularly would be held at 11 am of April 10 at All Manipur Student Guardians’ Organization(AMSGO) Palace Compound office.
