More Seek Meghen’s Whereabouts

IMPHAL, Oct 31: Continuing to exert pressure on the Government of India, various social organizations have demanded to know the whereabouts of UNLF Chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima after his reported arrest in Dhaka by a combined team of India’s RAW and Bangladesh police on September 29 last.

A meeting of the All Manipur Ladies Association (AMLA) yesterday took serious note of the stoic silence being maintained by the Government of India over the issue.

The meeting strongly felt that the Government of India should come out with the truth and make public the whereabouts of RK Meghen.

Echoing the same, Rural Development Women’s Society, Laphupat Tera, in a statement, observed that denying any information on the whereabouts of RK Meghen amounts to denial of human rights.

If RK Meghen is a culprit in the eyes of Government of India, then trial should be initiated against him within the existing legal framework, the statement signed by its secretary S Memmi Devi added.

Khunthokhanbi Meira Paibi (Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai and Kabrambam Leikai), in a statement, pointed out that to ensure the democratic rights of the people, the Government of India should make public the whereabouts of RK Meghen.

Mahila Mandal Langthabal Khunou, Women’s Welfare Association (Singjamei Wangma), North Imphal Meira Apunba Lup (NIMPAL), Wabagai Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi Chaokhat Thourang Lup and Young Future Organization have also asked the State Government and New Delhi to ascertain the whereabouts of RK Meghen.
