MNRF Lambasts UNC’s Demand

IMPHAL, Dec 6 : Recalling the erstwhile slogan of NSCN-IM ‘˜nothing more, nothing less than sovereignty‘, which has eventually transformed to Naga integration, the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) noted that the UNC has been openly supporting and  advocating the NSCN-IM’s demands by imposing bandhs and blockades every now and then thereby causing untold misery to the people of Manipur. Observing that the UNC is now shouting for statehood/union territory instead of Naga integration, the MNRF wondered at the possible goal of NSCN-IM and UNC, whether it is sovereignty or Naga integration or statehood/union territory.

Such wavering stance of NSCN-IM and UNC only exposed political immaturity of their leadership, the outfit remarked.

A press release issued by the outfit’s commander in chief Atai Siro asked what would be the political slogan of those MLAs elected under the sponsorship of NSCN-IM to shout for Naga integration since UNC has adopted a new line. Like its previous movements, the UNC’s new demand would not bring anything positive except animosity and misery among the people of Manipur.

‘What is the rationale behind Kuki groups’ demand for statehood, NSCN-IM’s demand for Naga integration and UNC’s demand for union territory/statehood? It is really painful to imagine the future of little Manipur under such divisive and contradictory designs and goals’, Atai Siro said.

Asserting that Manipur is for all the communities settled within its boundary, the MNRF called upon all to focus on regaining the lost territories of Manipur.

It went on to say that the MNRF cadres are ever ready to sacrifice even their lives, if the situation demands, to safeguard the integrity of Manipur.
