Meghen In Guwahati, To Be Produced Before Court Today

IMPHAL, Dec 2: UNLF Chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima, who the National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed to have arrested from Motihari district of Bihar and brought to Guwahati yesterday, could not be produced in a special Court of NIA as all the Courts in Guwahati were on holiday today.

The arrested rebel leader is expected to be produced in the Court tomorrow.

According to information received from Guwahati, RK Meghen is currently being kept in the custody of Special Branch of Assam Police Headquarters.

RK Chinglen, second son of RK Meghen and his lawyer tried to meet the rebel leader. But the Assam police denied permission.

After 35 years, RK Chinglen is expected to meet his father when the latter is produced in the Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded that UNLF chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima should be brought back to Manipur and tried fairly.

In a statement, vice president of the party S Ibohal Singh said that though the drama of uncertainty over the whereabouts of RK Meghen has ended, the public should be still wary of what type of harassment and suppression of facts would be meted out to the rebel leader in the name of follow up legal procedures.

This should be evident from the fact that the Ministry of Union Home Affairs, has been showing its dishonest side in dealing with the issue.

On the other hand, Social Advance Movement, Manipur has demanded that RK Meghen should be handed over to the people of Manipur.
