IMPHAL, Mar 27: The conflict of right and duty between a war mongering General and his lowborn wife flows through Actors’ Repertory Theatre’s Mangal Yaobrada Numit (The Sun Without Light).

The play that depicts the life of Karna, the uncelebrated son of Kunti in the epic Mahabharata, was presented at Rupmahal theatre on March 24 last.

Designed and conceptualized by theatre director K Kyamba, the play brought to life the fatal destiny of Karna, the maiden son of Kunti.

As Karna has sacrificed his thumb to his mother Kunti during the last phase of the battle of Kurukshetra, his wife Padmavati unwillingly bade farewell to her husband Karna.

The play is written by Kshetri Sanajaoba.

A graduate certificate holder in One Year Comprehensive Course in Dramatic Arts under National School of Drama, K Kyamba has 20 years experience in theatre as actor and organizer as well. He has worked with eminent directors like Bhanu Bharti, MK Raina, John Martin, Habib Tanvir and Kshetri Jugindro etc.

Kyamba has also penned plays like Houdong Lamboiba Amashung Pabet, Nahanphamda Hallo He, Laiharaoba and Thambal Manam etc.

Established in 1980, Actors’ Repertory Theatre is known for its dynamic experimental plays in Manipur.
