Locals Demand For Early Completion Of Road Construction

LAMKA, Mar 4: Koite Lui Area Youth Association has called on the contractor engaged in blacktopping of Tedim road to immediately resume their work.

Taking into consideration of the plight of the commuters and residents who are now living in perpetual hell of dirt and dust, the association urged the concerned contractor to resume blacktopping within five days.

Alleging that the contractor and his agents are not traceable, the press release that was issued after a joint meeting with the local MDC Khaipao Haokip declared that the association would no longer tolerate such shoddy work.

The association would take up whatever means in its hand to complete the work in case the contractor fails to respond by March 10, it added.

Memorial stone erected: A memorial stone of former Minister and a four-time MLA of the Singngat A/C, Thangkhanlal was erected today at Sungdai village, about 60 kms from Churachandpur district headquarters.

A prominent political figure of Zou tribe, dominantly populated in the interior Singngat sub-division, Thangkhanlal breathed his last on November 22, 1998.

He was also the Chief of Suangdai village.

Today’s memorial ceremony hosted by the Village Authority and ZYA Suangdai unit was attended by his son Advocate Chinlunthang.

Voicing his concern for the area, wherein he said there is no sign of development and the education policy fails, Chinlunthang said he would not hesitate in following the footprints of his father.
