Speaking at the occasion, Kumar stated that during the eight years of existence Ireibak had been at least able to contribute its mite in not only dissemination of information to the masses but also highlight major issues.

Conceding that the daily still has scope for development, Kumar sought cooperation of the public in the daily’s progress and extending its service to the people.

In his address, Sanaleibak editor A Mobi highlighted adverse working environment being endured by the State scribes with particular reference to disturbances caused by some armed groups.

Inspite of experiencing hostilities individuals related to both print and electronic media have begun to accept that presence of many unlawful organizations in the State is the chief factor for the inconveniences faced by the journalists.

Mobi also opined that interest of some armed groups is to utilize newspapers to spread their extortion network.

Apart from Huiyen Lanpao (Manipuri) editor N Hemanta and senior journalist RK Ranendrajit, columnists of the Ireibak daily also spoke on the occasion, which was presided by former Director of Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Dimapur Aheibam Birendra.
