Hills Echo With Irabot’s Message

IMPHAL, Sep 24: Inspiring messages of Jananeta Hijam Irabot echoed for the first time in the hill areas of Manipur today with hill-based organizations taking the onus of organizing commemorative functions of the 114th birth anniversary of the first political leader of Manipur.

At Ichum Keirak Village, Ichum Keirak Area Youth Development Organization organized the commemorative function chairman of Ichum Keirak Village Authority Darsothang, secretary of Village Authority T Hensei and advisor M Chongtang as chief guest, guest of honor and president respectively.

Apart from a recitation contest on patriotic theme, a football match was also organized to mark the occasion. Nongmaiching Area Komrem Development Committee also organized a similar function at Uran Chiru Community Hall today.

The function was attended by organization secretary of Komrem Union, Manipur Phairureng Jatak Chiru as chief guest, chairman of Nongmaiching Area Komrem Development Committee SH Darsinkhup Kharam as president and chief of Uran Chiru village SD Songneng as guest of honor.

Poetry recitation competition on patriotic theme was the main highlights of the day’s function during which prizes were also given away to the winners. On the other hand, Irabot Celebration Committee, CPI Kshetrigao Local Council organized Irabot Ningshing Thouram at Kongba Kshetri Leikai Panthoibi Sanglen. Contingents of school students and women volunteers participated in a march pass competition.

Jiribam correspondent adds: In commemoration of Jananeta Hijam Irabot’s month, All Jiribam United Clubs’ Assn distributed saplings such as Sandalwood, Orange and Teak to at least 16 local clubs and 7 schools of Jiribam today.
