‘Gift of Life’ Donees Arrive Home

IMPHAL, Jan 29: As a part of the ongoing ‘Heart to Heart’ Project of Rotary Club of Imphal, three children who successfully underwent open heart surgery at Fortis Escort Heart Institute, Delhi arrived here today.

The three – Ningthoujam Rani Devi (3), d/o N Robindro Singh of Mayang Imphal, Angom Silky Devi (4) d/o A Rozy Singh of Phayeng Awang Leikai and Thokchom Monica Devi (1 yr 6 months) d/o Th Roben Singh of Khangabok were received at Imphal Airport by RCI president Dr M Madhumangal Singh, Secretary L Manaoranjan Singh and other Rotarians. Six children, including these three had already been operated at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute under the Project of Rotary International. On January 14, 2011, RCI secretary Manoranjan represented Manipur at the ‘Gift of Life’ Project Seminar held at the said Hospital which was also attended by the committee members and 80 Rotarians from rotary clubs of South Korea, who are partly funding the project.

In all a total of 29 children, suffering from Congenital Heart Disease (CSD), or holes in their hearts, have been successfully operated upon under the ‘Heart to Heart’ project of Rotary Club of Imphal and they are all leading normal lives.
