Double Murder Accused Held

IMPHAL, Mar 8: Altogether five cadres of KCP-MTF (Sunil Meetei Group) including four accused in two murder cases have been apprehended by Bishnupur police commandos during an extensive operation during the last 24 hours at Kha Jiri, Kamong Kabowakching and Nambol areas.

Parading the arrested UG cadres at Bishnupur police Hqs today, Bishnupur SP K Jayenta identified them as Sanabam Samananda alias Ibungo (20) s/o S Tarpon of Kabowakching Mayai Leikai, Pukhrambam Romesh alias Inao (22) s/o P Nodiachand of Leimapokpam Mayai Leikai, Yumnam Domen alias Tayai (29) s/o Y Labango of Mongjing, Ningthoujam Idom alias Leichin alias Doma alias Chamba s/o late Karana alias Tomba of Leimaram Awang Leikai and Yumnam (O) Indubala alias Abe (34) w/o T Thoithoi of Nambol Thongkha.

Out of them, S Samananda, P Romesh, Y Domen and N Idom were directly involved in the murder of Utlou Gram Panchayat Zilla Parishad Member Thokchom Sanayaima Singh on October 23 last year and Huidrom Subachandra of Ishok Mayai Leikai on January 29 this year.

They were also involved in the abduction of Leimapokpam PHC MO Dr Wangkhem Nabachandra on December 13 last year who was rescued by Bishnupur police commandos in the evening of the same day, SP Jayenta said.

On verification, it was revealed that Yumnam Indubala alias Abe who runs a small grocery shop at Nambol Bazar dealt in collection and transaction of extortion money among the cadres of KCP-MTF (Sunil Meetei Group) and their leader Sunil Meetei who is based outside the State.

She is a close aide of Sunil Meetei and through her all the business transaction of the KCP-MC were carried out, the SP added.
