MOREH, Jun 11 : In terms of telecommunications, the border town of Moreh has been coping with frequent break downs in the network and remaining cut off from the rest of the State quite often due to snapping of optical fiber cables (OFC) four/five times between June 1 and June 11, reports our correspondent.
The snapping of the OFC connecting Imphal and Moreh has been causing serious difficulties to traders as they are unable to contact their partners and firms at Imphal.
Even though top officials of the department concerned are aware of this situation, nothing has been done to rectify it, while the customers using telecommunication service through OFC are have to pay their bills despite the frequent break down in telecommunication service.
Such is the case with mobile phone and WLL users.
Highlighting all these woes, Moreh denizens have appealed to the authority concerned to come up with some pragmatic means so as to ensure uninterrupted telecommunication service taking into account frequent snapping of OFC lines.
A few days back, the OFC connecting Imphal and Moreh was snapped.
Though the OFC line has been re-connected by the concerned staff this afternoon after working through the night yesterday, they are apprehensive that the same line may get snapped any time.
