LAMKA, April 2: Chief Minister O Ibobi today inaugurated a new SBI branch at Tuibuong here while he also attended a training program on the flagship schemes of the SPF government alongside MPCC(I) president Gaikhangam at YPA hall, New Lamka.

A long pending aspiration of the locals, the new SBI branch is the third in the district and second for the township. The bank authorities said facilities like in any other bank branches will be on offer at the three-counters, state of the art branch that was inaugurated by the Chief Minister. IPR minister TN Haokip and outer Manipur MP Thangso Baite were other dignitaries in attendance.

The Chief Minister then addressed a training program organized by the district congress committee with four of his cabinets namely Health minister Jayantakumar Singh, social welfare minister N Loken Singh, Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and TN Haokip. The four along with ADCC Chairman Langkhanpau Guite also addressed the gathering.

Ibobi in his speech justified his cabinet’s decision to hand over all flagship program implemented under DRDA to the ADC and appointment of senior MCS officer as an executive director. “The Deputy Commissioners have many responsibilities, the cabinet decision will relieve them to a great extent,” he said, even as he advised ADCs to be practical in their implementation. Failing to provide utilization certificates in time or failure to pursue funds from the centre will annoy the public and in such cases we will have to shift it back to the old system, he said.

IPR minister TN Haokip uses the words that were all too familiar in times of election saying the public is the master and they are the servants. ‘The time has come for you to think and join hands together for a developed Churachandpur. The ball is with you…. duties are more important than rights,’ he said.

His cabinet counterparts Phungzathang draws a portion in the Bible wherein God told the Israelites not be forsake his name when they harvest what they have not sown and reside inside a house they have not constructed. ‘Likewise, do not forsake the people who have made you see things you have never seen, and made you know thing you have never known,’ he said.

The Chief Minister also presented eleven staff of the DRDA, an appreciation certificate each for their role in the district bagging the national award for MGNREGA during the latest MGNREGA Sammelan held at New Delhi.
