IMPHAL, Mar 11: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has reiterated that the selection list of the DPC conducted for recruitment of Primary Teachers which was leaked out in a local newspaper cannot be applicable.
In his response to a call attention motion moved by Opposition member O Joy in the Assembly today which was consequently taken up by the House for the short duration discussion, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who is also the leader of the House, pointed out that the controversial issue surrounding recruitment of Primary Teachers had earlier been taken up for discussion in the House. Following the publication of the result in a local newspaper before it was announced officially, a Committee headed by Chief Minister has started examining into the matter and the Committee is expected to submit its report by March 31.
After studying the report of the Committee, the selection list on regular basis would be declared. Responsibility would be fixed if irregularities were detected in the conduct of the DPC and even the DPC members have to face the music if they were found guilty, the Chief Minister stated firmly.
He explained that some candidates from among those recommended in the DPC conducted in 2006 for recruitment of primary teachers have been appointed on contract basis for a period of 11 months out of necessity after due consideration of the shortage of teachers despite most Government schools starting their academic session from April next. This is only a temporary arrangement and the same has been stated very clearly not only in the order but also on the candidates themselves.
Taking into consideration of over-aging of candidates who have participated in the controversial D conducted for recruitment of primary teachers in 2006-07, the State Cabinet has taken a decision to the effect of giving relaxation of five years to such candidates in the proposed recruitment of 800 teachers under RMSA and SSA, the Chief Minister informed the House.
Participating in the discussion, Opposition member O Joy questioned whether the selection list which was leaked out and published in a newspaper has been legalized along with appointment of all the selected candidates in the said list on contract basis for 11 months. He also demanded to know what has happened to the report of the Committee headed by Chief Secretary as the chairman for examining into the matter.
