Cabinet Discusses Power Devolution

IMPHAL, Oct 19: A Cabinet meeting held this evening at the CM‘s Secretariat with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair deliberated on the list of powers that would be devolved to the Autonomous District Councils under the Manipur (Hill Area) District Council Act 1971.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, SPF Government’s spokesperson N Biren said that the meeting after deliberating on the list of power to be devolved to the ADCs, agreed on seeking due approval from the Ministers concerned.

The Cabinet meeting also agreed on increasing the DA and DR of State Govt employees and pensioners by 10 per cent to the current 35 per cent. The new rate of DA and DR will be in force from November 1. The meeting endorsed its earlier decision of appointing ADC Chairmen as Chairmen of DRDA. It also approved the provision of free and compulsory education of children and right to education.
