CM gives good grading to MDS

IMPHAL, Mar 10 : Apart from implementing schemes related to Handloom and Minor Irrigation, Manipur Development Society has been taking up many Engineering works as well as in Agricultural sectors, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh informed the State Assembly today in response to a query from MLA Morung Makunga during question hour.

The Chief Minister further informed the House that the Society has been giving priority in releasing fund and taking up developmental schemes in remote areas of the hill districts. So far, 15 integrated tanks have been constructed close to the Fire Brigade offices at different parts for conveniences in times of fire as well as for providing drinking water and irrigation purposes. In addition, 22 market sheds and many community halls and bus waiting sheds have been constructed.

In response to another query raised by MLA Th Shyamkumar, the Chief Minister, who is also in charge of Home, informed the House that the target set to complete the construction work of Andro Police Station is within April 30 this year.


Sociology PhD

IMPHAL, Mar 10: The Centre for Manipur Studies, Manipur University, Imphal has notified that an entrance exam will be held to select candidates for undergoing their PhD studies in Sociology. Candidates are informed to collect their admit card on or before March 11. The entrance test will be held on March 14 at 1 pm at the Lecture Hall of Economics Dept.


Kingfisher Airlines

IMPHAL, Mar 10: Kingfisher Airlines is set to increase its daily flights in all sectors to meet the growing demands of air passengers and the Imphal-Guwahati sector has also been included in the new schedule. In a notification issued by the Airlines, the flights on the New Delhi-Guwahati-Imphal-Guwahati-New Delhi will now operate on all seven days in a week.


Dance festival

IMPHAL, Mar 10: The 3rd Children Folk Dance Festival organized by Inunganbi Manipuri Dance Academy, Jiribam was held at the town hall, Jiribam, reports our Jiribam correspondent.

Deputy Inspector of School, Jiribam Ch Sunamani and Pradhan of Dibong Gram Panchayat Th Ibomcha inaugurated the festival as chief guest and functional president respectively.

Competitions in group dance as well as in solo performances were witnessed in the festival.

The chief guest and the functional president presented cash prizes to the winners.


KCP-MTF refutes

IMPHAL, Mar 10: The armed outfit KCP-MTF has refuted any connection whatsoever between the party and Chirom (O) Geeta, Chirom Abung, Ingudam Bipin and JK who were arrested by a combined team of Manipur Police and Mizoram Police from Aizawl a few days back.

According to a press release issued by the outfit’s publicity secretary Sunil Meetei, Geeta was looking after education of her children at Aizawl besides engaging herself in trading heiribop between Mizoram and Nagaland.

Abung was doing different odd jobs for survival while Bipin and JK were working as television mechanics.

All the four individuals have no connection with the party, Sunil contended.
