UNLF clarifies

IMPHAL, Feb 23: Reacting to the news report about the arrest of two UNLF cadres including one who was involved in the killing of Ningombam Sunder of Sawombung Gate, senior publicity officer of the proscribed outfit Ksh Yoiheiba has clarified that the alleged killer of Sunder whom the combined force of AR and Manipur police identified as Khomdram Tamnganba alias Sushil s/o Kh Itomcha of Tensubam Leirak, Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai, is a renegade.

Tamnganba was earlier working under 241 Bn of MPA and his serial no. was 2099. Around 5 months back, he took leave on medical ground. But has not returned to his unit since then on various pretexts. So, he is a proclaimed deserter. Later on news were received of his joining one KCP faction.

Therefore, he has no connection with the outfit anymore, Yoiheiba clarified; adding that dragging the name of UNLF over the alleged involvement of a renegade like him is an attempt on the part of the security forces to tarnish the image of UNLF.

UNLF or its armed wing MPA has nothing in connection with the killing of Sunder, Yoiheiba reiterated.

Moreover, the arrested Phanjoubam Winnerjit s/o Ph Shyam of Bheigyabati Leikai, who is claimed to be working under Tamnganba for five years, too has no connection with UNLF/MPA, Yoiheiba added.
