Internal Assessment Meets Off On A Positive Note— ‘We Can Now Compete Globally’

IMPHAL, Feb 16: A two-day State level seminar on the role of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in re-accreditation of affiliated colleges has begun from today at the lecture hall of DM College of Science.

The seminar is being organized by DM College of Science and is being sponsored by National Assessment Accreditation Council.

The inaugural function of the seminar was attended by Director of College Development Council, Manipur University Dr RK Ranjan Singh as chief guest, Principal of DM College of Science Dr P Ranabir Singh as president and former Principals of the College Th Bedamani Devi, G Tomba Sharma and Dr A Kananbala Devi as guests of honor.

At the occasion, the chief guest released the Re-accreditation Report, 2011.

In his address, Dr Ranjan observed that today’s world is very competitive and added “we can join any competition throughout the world.”

This is also an age of globalization and we can get access to all relevant information through various information systems. After 5 to 7 years, access to information is expected to be ever faster by three times, Dr Ranjan added.

In his presidential address, Dr Ranabir pointed out that IQAC was established in DM College of Science in July 2006. It has been working as a constituent body of the College for the betterment of the society, apart from looking after various activities of the college.

He expressed hope that the seminar will give an opportunity to the teachers and the participants to share their views and knowledge for the development of education and the society at large.

G Tomba Sharma pointed out that China has been advancing in every field including education. There many post-graduates and Ph D were produced annually.

He further pointed out that in Manipur we also have many committed teachers who want to do something for the society and the society also expect something from them. So, the duty of the teachers does not end after the classes are over. The IQAC is an effective and efficient internal coordinating and monitoring mechanism. It takes note of feedbacks of the students, workshop, documentation and various other reports on the academic session. So, IQAC helps in bringing about developmental changes in the college.
